What is a Nuaire MVHR MRXBOX System

The Nuaire MRXBOX is a compact, efficient MVHR unit designed to be discreetly mounted in utility cupboards, lofts, or eaves. It works by extracting stale air from wet rooms, such as bathrooms, while drawing in fresh air from outside, resulting in fresher indoor air, a more stable indoor temperature, and reduced heating costs.

Understand the Light Indicators

Once a Nuaire MRXBOX is installed, it uses a simple yet effective traffic light indicator system to show how your unit is functioning.

Green Light

Operating normally.

Red Light

Indicates motor failure in either the supply or extract fan.

Double Yellow Flashing Light

The unit is in HX bypass or summer bypass mode. It’s not a fault, but a good sign your unit needs a service.

Single Yellow Flashing Light

Boost mode is active, usually triggered by a bathroom or kitchen switch.

The Importance of Clean Nuaire Filters

For all Nuaire units, your filters should be vacuumed at least every 3 months. They should also be replaced annually.

If you fail to follow this advice, your filters can get blocked. This can cause all types of issues, including:

By staying on top of your MRXBOX’s maintenance, you increase its lifespan, reduce the need for costly repairs, and improve unit efficiency.

FAQs

How do I change an MRXBOX filter?

Switch the unit off. Remove the filter covers and place them on the side. Insert your new filters into the correct openings and push them all the way in. Replace the filters covers and switch on the unit.

What causes a flashing red light on the MRXBOX?

A flashing or solid red light on an MRXBOX unit indicates that there’s a major fault with the supply or extract fan motor. One of our Nuaire service engineers can get this fixed. We will require your serial number

How can I achieve boost mode on the MRXBOX?

Boost mode is activated via installed switches in moisture-prone rooms. For example, bathrooms, en-suites, etc. When this is turned on (indicated by a yellow light), it increases the airflow to remove the excess humidity or odour from the room.

Why is there no airflow coming from my MRXBOX unit?

This could be due to a number of reasons. The filter could be blocked, there could be a motor failure, or the PCB could be faulty. If there’s no airflow, it’s always best to contact a Nuaire service engineer to diagnose and fix the problem.

How long does a full MVHR service take?

On average it takes 2 hours. Deep cleaning the air vents takes 45 minutes. The work on the MVHR unit which includes both motors and the heat exchanger takes 45 minutes. Testing and checking the airflow rates take 30 minutes.
